The 2024 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has a fragrant bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit, hints of cassis and violet. Fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip. Harmonious, finely judged acidity, there is a sense of tension here with welcome underlying bitter cherry notes that lend tension. This is a fine follow-up to the 2023 Lavaux and it should repay a bit of bottle age. 2028-2044
A bright ruby purple. The bouquet has greater energy than Estournelles and the wood is much less prominent. An impressive intensity given the lighter style of the vintage. The fruit is mostly in raspberry mode, and it persists well. Drink from 2030-2036. Tasted Oct 2025.
