Made entirely with old Nerello Mascalese vines grown in Contrada Barbabecchi on Etna’s northern slopes, the 2021 Frank Cornelissen Magma is drop-dead gorgeous and the best wine I’ve had to date from this iconic producer. Boasting body, balance, perfume and racy mineral tension, it delivers delicious flavors of baking spice, strawberry compote and bitter orange along with intense flinty mineral sensations that show its Etna pedigree. Velvety tannins provide endless finesse while racy acidity gives it an edge and lends even more energy. An absolute beauty. Drink through 2036.
