The Rocky Point Pinot Noir offers superb clarity of fruit, a unique identity and a delicious approachability at an excellent price point. The wine is fermented gently with just one punchdown, by hand, in the entire process so that only the finest flavours and tannins are extracted. The wine is aged for one winter in oak, 10% of which is new, ahead of bottling just before the following harvest. No wholebunch here, this is all about fruit and site expression. Translucent bright ruby in the glass, the nose is immediate and enticing with fine strawberry and red plum, together with just a hint of woody herbs and subtle wood spice. The palate has more of that sumptuous and vibrant red berries with a pristine clarity. Sappy and moreish, this has superb refinement with delicate, ripe tannins gently framing the fruit at the core. Flecks of spice and wood smoke are gentle, adding to the fruit rather than dominating it. Long and fresh on the finish, this is delicious now, though it will doubtless age gracefully in bottle for a decade.
