Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata, Rocche Costamagna 2017

Tasting Notes

Yet another vintage where Rocche Costamagna's Alessandro Locatelli has done justice to this fabulous vineyard. This is even more expressive on the nose than the entry level Barolo and is a bigger, broader wine on the palate. There are layers of fruit here, wrapped up in a silky, vanilla oak shell with soft, subtle tannins and lovely acidity. This really is delicious now but will keep for a long time. Bravissimo!

Aromas of sweet berries, roses and other flowers. Fragrant. Full-bodied with chewy yet fine tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Ripe and intense, but held together and framed with polished phenolics. Try after 2025.

Smells a little riper and more evolved than the straight Barolo. Sweeter and more complex at the same time. Challengingly blocky, dry chalk-textured tannins. Glues your mouth together at the moment but there's fruit at the core to make it whole. 2024-2032
