The Gaja 2023 Barbaresco Sorì Tildìn feels as though it needs more time to fully reveal itself. There is a nervous energy that has always characterized this wine when tasted young, suggesting that its best years are still ahead. The bouquet is beautifully delicate with floral notes, elegant red fruit and a distinct mineral character marked by hints of iron and rust. A subtle saline note emerges with air, adding another layer of complexity. Although less immediately expressive than the Costa Russi, the Sorì Tildìn possesses the structure, tension and underlying depth to flesh out beautifully with further bottle age. This is a wine still very much in the making. 2027-2050.
Leaping from the glass with energy, the 2023 Barbaresco Sorì Tildin pours a jeweled ruby color and shows remarkable depth and clarity. A small percentage of barrique is used, yet the wine retains striking purity with notes of framboise, pressed flowers, and polished stones. There is a seductive quality here that almost recalls a great Burgundy in its elegance and texture. The tannins are sweet and refined, and the wine is dangerously easy to drink despite its complexity and depth. Mouthwatering and exceptionally long, drink 2026-2058. 2,900 bottles were produced.
Vinous aromas of crushed red berry mingle with botanical herb, lavender and dark spice on the 2023 Sorì Tildìn. Showing great finesse, the palate features Morello cherry, star anise and blood orange accompanied by taut, polished tannins and tangy acidity. Drink 2027–2038. Abv: 13.5%
