Tasting Notes

“Aromas of blackcurrants, crushed stone, bay leaves, graphite, violets and some rust. Full-bodied with layers of velvety tannins that turn to cashmere. Juicy and flavourful. Needs time to open. It’s extremely structured and solid. Best after 2027.”

“The 2022 Viñedo Chadwick is equal parts composed and commanding, entering with an aromatic intensity that stays under the surface but holds excellent energy and power. The nose is darkly fruited, herbal and wonderfully gravel-laden and toasted, displaying pitch-perfect harmony between all elements. The texture is sumptuous yet graceful, displaying fantastic poise and clarity through its classically structured framing and balance. The finish calls back the nose's multidimensionality, simultaneously achieving a flashy, rugged persistence housed in an exquisite, understated and nuanced package. This is a real work of art that should deliver immense pleasure for two decades. It's a blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, aged for 18 months in predominantly barrique with a small portion of foudre.”

“One of those vintages where Francisco Baettig included 4% Petit Verdot in the mix with Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2022 Viñedo Chadwick is the latest in a series of impressive releases of this iconic Puente Alto red. Deftly wooded in a combination of barrels and foudres, it’s a little more forward than the 2021 was at the same stage, but not far behind it in terms of quality. Graphite, cinnamon and dark chocolate aromas segue into a palate of cassis, dill and summer berry fruits, framed by filigree tannins and refreshing acidity. More Margaux than Pauillac if you’re looking for a Bordeaux comparison. (13.5%) 2026-38”
