This château was created in the 1950s by the late Henri Martin who was also the regisseur of Château Latour. Consequently it does not appear in the 1855 classification but surely would if it were ever updated. Along with big brother Saint Pierre, the quality here has improved massively in the last few years and this is a top St Julien performer these days. There are 50 hectares of vines which are planted 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot. Usually St Julien's best value.

An attractive effort, the 2023 Gloria offers up aromas of dark berries and plums mingled with subtle hints of violets and licorice. It's medium to full-bodied, taut and lively, with good depth and persistence. This blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet France is the third and final vintage of organic conversion at Gloria.
The 2023 Gloria presents a deep purple hue. It has a succinct bouquet with black cherries, red plum and pronounced floral aromas that emanate from the Petit Verdot. The palate is medium-bodied with bright blackberry and raspberry fruit, quite a minerally Gloria with a more linear, stricter finish than the 2022, as you would expect. There’s also fine salinity here. This is a classy Gloria that just misses the panache of recent vintages (and of the 2023 Saint-Pierre).
Bright ruby in colour, this has a fresh, red fruit dominated nose together with polished notes of cherry blossom and rosemary stalks. The palate has a summer pudding profile, with layers of red fruits, bready sweet plums and baking spices. This is easy to like, it is soft, succulent and approachable with a streak of acidity to keep everything fresh. One to look at for early drinking and the mid term.
Blackberries and blueberries with stone and sandalwood undertones. It’s medium- to full-bodied with integrated tannins that are polished and refined. Long finish. Solid and rather muscular. Could move up a notch.
The 2023 Gloria has a deep garnet-purple color. It is a little sluggish to begin, with notes of sauteed herbs, damp soil, and tar soon opening out to a core of stewed strawberries, plums, and cedar chest. The medium-bodied palate is chewy, with nice freshness and just enough savory-laced fruit, finishing a little short and firm.
Love this inky depths of the plummy fruits and deep rich chcolate notes, great quality with depths and balance. Last year of organic conversion.
The 2023 Gloria is bright, punchy and super-expressive. Red-toned fruit, crushed flowers, white pepper and mocha are nicely dialed up. this super-classic Saint-Julien delivers the goods. Best of all, it should be a great value. Drink 2030-2053.
