The altitude of Narvaux is in evidence as the nose of mineral reduction, petrol and acacia blossom is distinctly cool. The sleek, intense and overtly stony medium weight flavors deliver fine length on the balanced and citrusy finale where a mildly tannic note slowly creeps in. Note that this lovely effort is sufficiently tightly wound to need at least a few years of patience and it should reward up to a decade. Very good quality here and worth your interest.
The 2022 Meursault Narvaux (Domaine Louis Jadot) has turned out beautifully, unfurling in the glass with a gently reductive bouquet of apple, pear, white flowers and peach. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and racy, with a tightly wound core, tangy acids and a saline finish, it's built to age.
Pale in colour, the nose displaying a slight green hazelnut reduction which is not at all unpleasant. Indeed, it adds tension to the wine. There is impressive weight on the palate, some concentrated plum and greengage, good acidity. This still needs more elevage but shows promise. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted: October 2023.
Pale gold in colour with a sweet nose of pastry cream, poached peaches and apricot. The palate is glossy with toasted nuts, freshly whipped cream and a hint of vanilla but under the sheen the fruit is pure, ripe but with a stony edge. Generous and creamy on a long finish.
