The 2022 Saint-Véran Terroirs de Davayé is a blend of three different plots (Pommard, Côte-Rôtie and Chataignier) and matured in barrel for 4-5 months and then transferred into concrete. It has a more backward bouquet than its peers, fresh and marine-influenced. The palate is vibrant, with a touch of orange rind and bitter lemon, quite spicy towards the finish. This lingers in the mouth long after the wine has exited. The 2022 is a vibrant and vivacious Véran. Drink 2024-2034.
Notions of pear, white flowers, citrus oil and freshly baked bread preface the 2022 Saint-Véran Terroirs de Davayé, a medium-bodied, lively and fleshy wine that's precise but charming. It includes fruit from lieu-dit Les Pommards and press juice.
Made mainly from the "Pommard" vineyard in the village of Davaye and also the press wine of Cote Rotie and Terres Noires. The press wine brings richness and as Pommard faces North there is naturally good acidity to balance. 100% barrel fermented and aged. A fine pale yellow in colour, the nose is sweet and silky with fresh pear and a little yellow plum. Textural and gentle on the palate, there are layers of stone fruit, citrus peel and fresh cream. Bright acidity cuts through and gives the wine grip and focus. A fine, long finish. Pure and elegant.
