More crimson than ruby at the edges. Higher-toned, scented roses, maybe some bacon, just inside the tramlines? Lush and rather lovely, just enough acidity, this is living slightly dangerously but for most this will be a very charming and persistent Clos de Vougeot. Drink from 2028-2037. Tasted: September 2024.
Revealing aromas of plummy fruit mingled with peonies, rose petals, orange rind, exotic spices and incense, the 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is full-bodied, layered and textural, with a deep, concentrated core, bright acids and velvety structuring tannins. Concluding with a long, perfumed finish, it's another classic in the making.
