The 2020 El Rapolao had a slightly shorter maceration than the 2019, and he used less full clusters than in 2019 to compensate for the warmer and more concentrated year. The wine, as I see in many 2020s, has more tannins that are going to need some more time in bottle to get polished. Planted on red clay soils with more iron, the vineyard is shadowed and ripens slowly and thoroughly. It comes from a 0.2-hectare plot at 540 meters in altitude and managed to keep the ripeness to 13%, as he used more white grapes from the plot to achieve a fresher and more fluid wine. 1,500 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2021. Drink 2023-2028.
