This wine is made from a section of the Roc de Cambes vineyard that is only entitled to the straight Bordeaux appellation. In the past only 20% new oak was used but Francois Mitjavile now thinks that the quality of the fruit deserves 100% new Radoux blend barrels. 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernets. Around 16,000 bottles are produced from 6 hectares of vines.
Expressive aromas of blackberries, violets and sweet spices preface the 2020 Domaine de Cambes, a medium to full-bodied, velvety and layered wine that's rich and demonstrative, its generous core of fruit framed by fine, chalky tannins. 2023 - 2037
The 2020 Domaine de Cambes has a perfumed, floral bouquet of black plum, bilberry and raspberry preserve infused with pressed iris and violet petals; fine delineation and focus here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, and a little oaky at the moment, but there is an attractive underlying peppery, almost sage-like note that comes through on the finish. Give this 2–3 years once in bottle. 2026 - 2038
Sporting a deep garnet-purple color, the 2020 Domaine de Cambes rolls out of the glass with exuberant notes of plum preserves, Black Forest cake and boysenberries, plus hints of star anise, cedar chest, camphor and smoked meats. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers mouth-coating black and blue fruit preserves, framed by chewy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and earthy. Drink 2024-2039.
Deep ruby with smoky, exotic spice and sweet, ripe red and black fruits on the nose. The palate is chalky and rich, finding roasted red and black fruits underneath hedonistic sweet spices. This opulent, seductive wine will offer great drinking pleasure, oozing black fruit and toast on the finish.
