Generally released a year later than the other single vineyard wines from Bodega Lanzaga, La Estrada is a blend of Tempranillo and 5% Graciano from a 0.64-hectare parcel planted in the 1940s. Fresh, floral and refined, it’s a detailed, layered, foudre-aged style with thyme and tarragon top notes, bright, tangy wild strawberry and pomegranate fruit and impressive underlying tension and depth.
Aromas of underbrush, herbs, blueberries and blackberries. It’s aromatic but not flamboyant, medium- to full-bodied, with expressive fruit and polished tannins. Cohesive, focused and harmonious, with brightness, subtle fruit and solid tannins. This has mostly garnacha in the field blend, from 100-year-old vines in Lanziego. This is approachable now, but will improve with age.
