More subtle oak influence easily allows the slightly riper and much spicier aromas of plum, dark berries and Asian-style tea to be appreciated. The caressing, rich and concentrated medium weight plus flavors coat the palate with dry extract that also helps to buffer the equally robust, powerful and mildly rustic finale that flashes excellent length. This firmly structured effort is very promising and should age accordingly.
Bursting with aromas of cherries, plums and wild berries mingled with hints of licorice and vine smoke, the 2021 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots (Domaine Gagey) is medium to full-bodied, soft, fleshy and round, with a rich, gourmand profile.
Mid ruby colour in the glass with notes of spice box and layered red and black fruits soaring from the glass. The palate is glossy on entry, the riper fruit profile matched by fine, chalky tannins. Tightening up through the mid palate, this has a stony, moerish quality. Grippy, yet softened by the sweet spices of oak, this is already complex and is impressive in its lenght and intensity.
