The 2019 Meursault Désirée is immensely appealing, wafting from the glass with notions of mandarin orange, apricot, Meyer lemon, crisp Anjou pear and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, it's sensual and enveloping, with lively acids and an expressive, giving profile.
The Desirée has been racked to tank earlier than the other cuvées, which is not unusual. A little more depth of colour than Clos de la Barre, plumper softer nose, a few plums in the mix, but still more in white fruit. The aim of moving this to tank is to use the lees en masse to make this exuberant wine a little stricter and it seems to be working. It certainly has a very long finish after the ripe flesh.
