Maison Jadot makes great Boudots and the 2013 is a very good example of the vintage. The deep and complex nose offers up a pure and vibrant mélange of plums, black cherries, a complex base of soil, gamebirds, woodsmoke and a bit of nutskin in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and focused, with a fine core, ripe, fine-grained tannins and very good length and grip on the nascently complex finish. As is the case with several of these Jadot reds this year, the wine seems a bit low in energy for the vintage, but perhaps this is just a phase. If it brightens up, my score will seem conservative, as there is really fine stuffing and complexity here. (Drink between 2022-2055)
