Passerillage-inflected aromas of orange oil, peach, barley sugar, apricot and freshly baked bread preface the 2020 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Garenne (Duc de Magenta), a medium to full-bodied, deep and fleshy wine that's ample and enveloping, with lively acids and a long, saline finish.
Noticeably yellower, though there is considerable elegance in the vineyard. There is a gorgeous sensuality to this, a cashmere texture and several waves of flavour, and a lovely persistent finish with just a faint acidity. Tasted: November 2021
Pale lemon colour. Fine, high toned and floral on the nose. The palate is tangy with peach fruit and smoky with seductive oak spice. There is a piercing, zippy acidity to cut through the fleshy fruit and smoky oak. A glossy, crowd-pleasing sheen builds to the finish, which is long and layered with stone fruit.
