Bonnes Mares, Arlaud 2018

Tasting Notes

The 2018 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a finely detailed bouquet, the 30% whole bunch nicely integrated and the absence of new oak allowing the ebullient black cherry and blueberry fruit to prosper. The focused palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity, and blessed with an impressive minerally finish that lingers for 45 seconds after the wine has departed. Superb.

The Arlaud holding consist of 8 rows in the middle of the vineyard, from top to bottom. Dense concentrated purple. This is all in red fruit with a lacy gracious energy, lovely detail. The taste is very much a Chambolle style Bonnes Mares, in that it does not have the wilder notes – just a beautiful purity of long and concentrated fruit.
