Exceptionally floral, elegant and pure aromas speak of red and dark currant, violet, rose petal and exotic spice nuances, all of which is trimmed in subtle wood. There is first-rate intensity to the muscular full-bodied flavors that coat the palate with dry extract that also partially buffers the very firm, serious and austere finish that is shaped by a robust tannic spine that will take its time resolving. Like the Vosne-Romanée Beaux Monts, this is a wine to put in the cellar for a minimum of 10 years and it should amply repay double that.
Unfurling in the glass with a youthfully reserved bouquet of cassis, wild berries, rose petals, peonies and sweet soil tones, Dujac's 2018 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cruis is full-bodied, lively and incisive, with a muscular and tight-knit core, racy acids and a long, chalky finish. As usual, this is one of the tightest-knit, most overtly mineral reds in the cellar, and it will demand patience.
