Just 500 cases will be made of the Block 3 in 2019, from vines now 27 years in age. Much like the rest of the line-up, the wine exibits clear characteristics to showcase why the might be the best vintage ever at Felton Road. Fairly deep and dark ruby in the glass, the nose is a little reticent at first but then reveals savoury herbs, dark cherry and deep brooding spices. There is an ethereal, floral character and subtle oak toast in the background too. The palate follows, with grippy and rich texture coating the mouth. This is perfectly balanced with the dark, fleshy fruit the is intense and wonderfully delineated. Very focused, with real depth at this stage, it builds through the mid-palate to flourish on the very long finish. This is a very fine example of Pinot Noir, that will reward a few years patience in the cellar before approaching.
