(tasted from barrel; from the middle of Rugiens du Haut; finished its malolactic fermentation late, in August): Bright dark red. Black cherry, iron and mocha on the nose. Vibrant and pure but youthfully tight, even a bit tough today, but with a fine-grained texture and lovely inner-mouth perfume and lift to its cherry and spice flavors. No easy sweetness here but boasts very good medicinal reserve. Finishes savory, aromatic and long, with gripping tannins and a strong backbone for aging.
