Tasting Notes

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (129), June 2000

This has always been a firm, structured La Chapelle and it continues to age slowly. The nose of roasted coffee, cedar, macerated ripe plums in Brandy, smoke, and Asian spices is intense, but not flamboyant in the style of the 1970 or 1971. The wine possesses a firm backbone, medium to full body, excellent to outstanding concentration and a tannic bite in the finish.
