The 2015 Nénin has a perfumed red currant and wild strawberry scented bouquet laced with tar and cedar, quite pure and delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with edgy tannin, a fine bead of acidity, plenty of graphite-tinged black fruit with a spicy and rather persistent finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.
Classic Pomerol character of black olives, wet earth, violets and dark fruit. Full-bodied, tight and silky-textured with fabulous texture. Stones and dark berries. So serious and real. The depth is like looking down a well. Give it three to four years to integrated but already beautiful. Try in 2023 and onwards.
Tasted blind. Dark crimson. Rich and dense with a bit of alcohol. Pretty hot! But makes an impression – that’s for sure. Rather dry on the end.
Drink 2024-2036
Notes of ripe plums, black cherries, freshly laid asphalt and scorched earth dominate the bouquet of the 2015 Château Nenin. Made from 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc, it offers a beautifully ripe, medium to full-bodied personality, bright acidity, and sweet tannin, and is going to evolve gracefully for 15-20 years. I was blown away by this wine when I tasted it from barrel, and it certainly didn’t disappoint from bottle. 2018 - 2038
The nose is bright the palate starts with depth rich ripe sweet black fruits but the mid palate is firmer lighter fresher with a mix of red fruits and bramble. The back palate has some ripe black plum the finish fresh and a bit tight. 2024-35
Right up there with the best vintages at this château since it was acquired by the Delon
family in 1997, this is a structured, intense, but vivacious Pomerol showing fine-grained
tannins and the grassy freshness of good Cabernet Franc. The oak will integrate over the
next couple of years. Drink: 2022-32
Sensitive and well-judged this is a very fine wine with fruit leading the way and oak sitting in the background. Intense
and full, but not heavy, this is a terrific Nénin and I am massively impressed by the splendid red theme and the stunning
aroma that the Cabernet Franc brings to this wine. There is massive potential on this property because the vines are
relatively young so goodness knows what will happen in the future. Fine tannins and no excessive astringency make this
is a delight. This is, by some margin, a finer wine than both the 2009 and 2010 vintages.
The 2015 Nenin has a clean and fresh redcurrant and cranberry-scented bouquet with touches of black truffle and cold stone. I would just like a little more intensity here but it may well have closed down since bottling. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, very harmonious and taut, quite understated when compared to the Nenins of a few years ago, segueing into a white pepper-tinged finish. Very fine. Anticipated maturity: 2021 - 2042.
The 2015 Nenin is a blend of 67% Merlot and 33% Cabernet Franc, cropped at 37 hl/ha between 17 September and 5 October over nine picking days. The alcohol arrives at 14.3%. Matured in 35% new oak, it sports a precise and elegant bouquet. This is a more nuanced Nenin compared to recent vintages whereby the Merlot is more expressive than the Cabernet Franc at present. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannin. This is very well balanced, a more sophisticated Nenin than in recent years, due to Jean-Hubert Delon's decision to deselect some worthy parcels into the deuxième vin. There is an attractive sappiness towards the finish that lingers nicely in the mouth. I would just like to see that Cabernet Franc finding its voice by the time this 2015 is in bottle, but this Nenin has very good potential. One to watch. Drink 2022-2045.
Most structured and powerful Nenin I have tasted in 30 years. Full body incredible brightness and beauty. Loads of blackberry and mineral character. Extremely long and intense. Creamy texture goes on for minutes. 33% cabernet franc and 63% merlot
Very dark and precise-looking - quite different from the Fugue. Rich but tense. Lots of heady ripeness but some structure too. I'm sure the press wine is doing a great job. Very luscious. Attention-grabbing without being at all exaggerated. 14.3%
