I also previewed the third vintage of the Valdelarreina, the 2025 Quiñón de Valdelareina, which had a maceration of 44 days and was in foudre after the fermentation for a couple of months. Both of the 2025 samples have a lactic feeling, with some cereal-like aromas intermixed with the notes of ripe fruit and aromatic herbs. The 2025 wines have a lot more color and are more concentrated. The palate is pungent and intense, with grainy tannins and supple flavors. This is 80% Garnacha, 7% Moristel, 5% Garnacha Roya, 4% Bobal, 2% Vidadillo and 2% white grapes from ancient vines. It has 13.6% alcohol, a pH of 3.52 and 5.5 grams of acidity. This developed at a faster pace than the 2025 sample of Valmira, but you know how it is with unbottled samples... It's still very young and probably needs more time. It will probably show better after the élevage. They expect some 5,500 to 6,000 bottles to be bottled in early 2027. Drink: 2029-2038
