The 2025 Treinspoor is pure Tinta Barocca (Sadie's favourite variety, this parcel planted in 1974), planted on Greywacke sandstone and quartz soils. This has an understated bouquet with raspberry and cranberry fruit, rose petal and just a hint of black olive. Gentle is the word that comes to mind. The palate is medium-bodied and quite mineral-driven, with grainy tannins, a fine bead of acidity and a very complex finish tinged with white pepper and bay leaf. Superb.
