Tasting Notes

El Velado is a single, 0.93-hectare parcel at 600 metres, benefitting from the warmth of its south and west-facing slopes. Partnering Tempranillo, 40% Garnacha and 5% white grapes, it’s an intricate, detailed, effortlessly complex red from Pablo Eguzkiza and Telmo Rodríguez, with lots of zip and freshness for a 2022, redcurrant, liquorice and blackberry flavours, negligible oak and filigree tannins.

Paprika on the nose. The palate is incisive and medium- to full-bodied with delicate fruit, structure, rugged tannins, definition and texture. Tender and precise. This is mostly tempranillo from a vineyard in Lanziego. It needs time, although it has its own charm already.
