There is no separate centenaire cuvée this year. A fine mid ruby colour. Plenty of energy here, the nobility of the terroir shines through. There is the significant additional intensity that one would hope for, the fruit is dark red without traces of black, good acidity but submerged within the fruit, and fine length. Exemplary.
Fourrier’s Clos St-Jacques is always an imposing wine, and in 2024 it is among my favourite Gevrey premiers crus. There is bright, forward pomegranate and cherry fruit with hints of violets and flinty minerality. On the palate, there is a lot of energy and freshness, but it lacks neither depth nor structure. The wine is open and accessible, yet it still has power. Prudent wine lovers will wait at least five years before opening and enjoy it over the next 20. (Drink between 2030-2050)
