Pink grapefruit, fresh lime, aniseed, thyme and assorted herbs, with something of a violet and lavender perfume. This is very stony and strict, a little grainy grip, light but intense with lime zest and perfume on a tight quinine-laced finish of excellent length. A classic vintage for this wine. Cool but perfectly formed.
The dab hand of one of Australia’s finest winemakers, and Riesling makers in particular, is well to the fore in this wonderful expression of the Polish Hill River sub-region. Such a beautiful, spicy, floral, lemony nose. And then a bracing, tense, minerally palate with a lovely wet slate citrus combination. Almost bounces across the pebbles across the palate. With that little pithy lemon adding an edginess to the finish. There’s a lip-smacking, refreshing acidity on the finish that completes what is a lovely wine.
