Trotanoy is one of the top names of the Pomerol appellation and is has been made by the Jean-Pierre Moueix company since 1953. The 7.2 hectare vineyard is now planted with 100% Merlot. Very limited quantities available.
The 2025 is 96% Merlot with 4% Cabernet Franc and the yield was only 15 hl/ha. Maturation in 50% new oak for 16-18 months.

The most powerful wine in the Mouiex cellars this year is the 2025 Trotanoy. Offering up aromas of ripe black fruits, fruitcake and spices, framed by a deft touch of new oak, it's full-bodied, layered and muscular, with plenty of ripe tannin and sweet fruit but good underlying energy, too. This will require some patience.
The 2025 Trotanoy was picked September 1 to 19 and matured in 50% new oak. This is quite powerful on the nose, almost pastille-like purity with black cherries and cassis scents, although I would not say it belongs in the top drawer of aromatics from this estate. The palate is very smooth thanks to its cashmere tannins. Perfectly judged acidity, very poised, very harmonious and deep towards the finish, this Pomerol finishes on a real high and delivers exactly what you want from one of the best Pomerol estates. The longer you stay with it, the more it seduces. Drink 2033-2060.
Trotanoy is a real success this year. Deep ruby in the glass, there is a sweet succulence to the wine, spilling over with notes of red and black cherries into kirsch and cassis on the nose. The palate matches that sweetness with chewy, ripe tannins, holding everything together in a ball of powerful, rich Merlot fruit. This is a blockbuster wine with a succulent core and spicy flecks of well-judge wood. A hedonistic showing for the vintage, it is nonetheless wonderfully handled and should provide immense pleasure in the bottle. Broad-shouldered prowess.
Blueberry, raspberry, blood orange and lavender aromas follow through to a medium body with an intense and energized center palate that gives superb definition and vivid, tight fruit and tannins at the end. 96% merlot and 4% cabernet franc.
Signature Trotanoy concentration, muscular and intense, it will run and run. Shows a brooding quality that this wine can specialise in during its early years, and we are truly and fully in the slow and steady 50 year category of Trotanoy. The 2025 Trotanoy is heady and explosive in the glass. It offers huge fruit and equally imposing tannins, all of which make for a pretty dramatic wine, even by Trotanoy standards. Cloves, licorice, lavender, graphite and dried herbs weave through a core of intense, dark-toned fruit. Firm, muscular tannins frame the incisive finish. Yields were a paltry 14 hectoliters per hectare. Christian Moueix added that Trotanoy might require a few extra rackings. 2035 - 2065
