Arguably one of the most famous of all the Scottish distilleries, Macallan whiskies (especially older vintages) have become increasingly sought-after. The Speyside-based company creates whiskies based around its 'Six Pillar' philosophy - Spiritual Home; Curiously Small Stills; Finest Cut; Exceptional Oak Casks; Natural Colour and Peerless Spirit. These whiskies are amongst the most desirable in the world today.
This is a limited release of a single cask Macallan 27 year old. Early 1990s Macallan casks bottled by independents have seen soaring demand where their relative value compared to official bottlings make them a seriously attractive drinking or holding option for those that realise the outstanding quality of some of these casks. After maturing for 27 years in a single ex-Bourbon cask the aromas are an utter delight. Fresh, yet intense, it is bursting with fruit patisserie notes and has a viscous, mouth salivating quality to it with wonderfully long length. The oily character, rather than being coated by ex-Sherry cask, is infused with the lighter fruity and honeyed influences of the ex-Bourbon cask. The beauty and joy of any single cask bottling is no two are the same and what is also notable is this was bottled at its natural ABV of 41% and without chill-filtration.
