A Tour de Force - 2014 Farr Vintners Pauillac

The latest vintage of our exceptional own label Pauillac has just landed. As a reminder, we’ve had many opportunities to have our ‘own label’ Bordeaux but they have never quite made sense from a quality and price point of view. That all changed a couple of years ago when the opportunity arose to collaborate with one of (if not) the very best châteaux in the region.

Today we are offering the 2014 vintage which is a return to the classic style that put Bordeaux on the map. This is a pure, elegant Pauillac - very much in the Médocaine style – that is to say structured and firm but with a very clean, fresh fruit core. In a nutshell, this is classic Bordeaux in every way. Perhaps the most exciting thing about this wine is its pedigree - it has been made by one of the most famous châteaux in Pauillac and that is evident from the first sip all the way through to the long, impressive finish. Although we are not allowed to say which château made it, suffice to say that, as far as reputation and wine making ability goes, you’d be hard pushed to find any better!

Thanks to the fantastic expertise involved in the making of this wine, it offers great versatility and exceptional value for money. Whilst being delicious now after an hour in a decanter, it will also provide great pleasure over the coming years. We wouldn’t put our name on just any old wine, but we are extremely proud to do so on this one.

“This exceptional wine was made from grapes grown at one of the most famous Châteaux in Pauillac, Bordeaux. After vinification and maturation in oak barrels for 20 months, it was bottled at the Château and labelled especially for Farr Vintners. There is a classic cassis nose with a hint of cigar box spice. On the palate this is very "Médocaine" in style with a touch of mint. There is good "grip" with firm yet integrated tannins. Exceptional length for a wine at such a modest price. Already approachable after a year in bottle, it will benefit from an hour in the decanter before drinking or will age well in the cellar for a few years. Classic "house claret" - very much in the style of the prestigious producer - that offers the Bordeaux purist a typically dry taste of Cabernet Sauvignon from the heart of Pauillac.”

16 points, Farr Vintners
