Impressive fresh violets and earthy notes with ripe dark plums. Leads to a very rich palate with ripe dark cherries, mulberries and boysenberries. Smooth tannins exude suave polish, and there's terrific fleshy appeal into the finish. All class. Try from 2022.
The 2015 Bourgneuf has a backward nose that demands some coaxing from the glass: broody, tertiary black fruit laced with bay leaf and cedar. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin, fresh black fruit bisected by a keen line of acidity and feeling a little pointed on the finish when I would like just a tad more flesh. Yet I admire the tension here, and I have a feeling that it will repay bottle age.
