Tasting Notes

The 2006 Barolo Riserva Bussia - Cascina Dardi presents a distinctly old-school personality that will appeal most to traditionalists. The 2006 saw more air during fermentation and was aged in 10HL casks, with no SO2 given during the entire time the wine was in cask. That has resulted in a quirky, eccentric wine that requires either an adventurous/curious palate or a familiarity with the wines of the 1950s to truly appreciate. Even though the 2006 presents a gently oxidative profile, it won't be ready to drink for another decade, as the fruit still needs time to soften. Stylistically, the 2006 belongs to the era of black and white photographs and rotary telephones. This is a gorgeous wine for readers who want to take a step back in time. 2025 - 2041
