A very fresh, pretty and layered nose offers up its notes of both red and dark currant, earth and soft spice wisps. The delicious middle weight flavors possess a beguiling sense of vibrancy while displaying fine length and depth on the balanced finish. This isn't elegant but it is refreshing. Drink: 2024+
Rich dense purple with ultra lush extrovert raspberry, a thick sweet texture, plump through the middle, not unbalanced but you can still see the heat a bit. The tannins are ripe though and there is some acidity. 14.3% alcohol. Tasted: November 2021
As with many Pinots in 2020, the Bourgogne Rouge from "CLF" has a deceptively deep colour at this young stage. The nose is intense but polished, with red and black cherries, incense and a hint of wood smoke. The palate is smooth, with polished tannins and fine, sweet spices. Dark hedgerow fruits burst through the mid-palate, offering a seductive, moreish style. Rounded and long with balancing acids, this is a crowdpleaser with deceptive structure. The depth and intensity suggest it will improve in bottle, gaining savoury tones to match the impressive fruit.
