Tasting Notes

Picked on October 20th and 21st at cool temperatures of two degrees Celsius, the 2020 Loibner Grüner Veltliner Ried Loibenberg offers a fascinating, clear, pure, fresh and crunchy, dark flint-stone aroma with iodine notes. On the palate, this is a full-bodied, rich and lush, elegant, round and balanced Veltliner with ripe and elegant fruit, filigreed acidity and fine, savory, saline and crystalline grip. Beautifully intense and ripe on the finish but lifted by the crystalline acidity and finely bitter phenolic grip. An impressive 2020. 13.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in September 2022.

Remarkably ripe for the 2020 vintage, with notes of King Alfonso mango and jack fruit, alongside pepper and and finest green beans. Excellent depth and nice creaminess, without obvious alcohol on the palate, the richness and lively acidity very well matched. Long, expansive finish. Drink or hold.
