Gevrey Chambertin Lavaux Saint Jacques, Domaine Dugat-Py 2019

Tasting Notes

Reduction overshadows the fruit at present. More interesting are the succulent and generously proportioned medium weight plus flavors that are very rich, even plush, and thus perhaps a bit less well-delineated than usual though the hallmark minerality is certainly present in spade. The intensity really builds as this sits on the palate and overall, this should be outstanding in time.

Brooding and reserved, the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques unwinds in the glass with notes of wild berries, cassis, smoked meats, rich soil tones, mandarin rind and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly muscular and concentrated, it's seamless and complete, with a deep, tightly wound core, beautifully refined tannins and a long, penetrating finish. This is a serious Lavaux Saint-Jacques that will require some patience.
