A beautiful wine of elegance and intensity, this medium-bodied, dark plum/purple-hued 2007 possesses a floral-infused bouquet, sweet, plush, red and black fruit flavors, and an endearing, silky texture. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.
Drink 2010-2022.
Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 2007 Bordeaux tasting. The 2007 Cantemerle has a lifted redcurrant and raspberry coulis nose with hints of toffee coming through with aeration. The palate is raw on the entry with harsh tannins and a very disjointed, sour finish. I like Cantemerle, but this seems to be poleaxed by the growing season. Tasted March 2015.
Drink Date 2015 - 2018
Berry and currant character. Delicate and fruity, with soft tannins
Blackish crimson. Tarry, meaty nose then supple, rather refined fruit and a very cool palate. Well managed tannins and no hint of green. Not thrilling but very well handled. Drink 2011-16
Deep ruby-red. Reduced nose hints at flowers and roasted meat. Lush and sweet, with black cherry and bitter chocolate flavors enlivened by a peppery element. Still, this comes across as essentially plump and seamless, and finishes with good ripe tannins.
Very scented fruits fill out the nose, the black fruits are rich whilst underneath there is fresher more fragrant raspberry. The mid-palate lacks concentration and this lightness is there on the finish. 2012-2018.
Good deep colour, attractive fragrant fruit, quite fully and nicely ripe on attack, just a touch of green in the middle, but a very well-made wine in this year and more weight than usual. Drink 2011-17. 4 stars.
