Tasting Notes

Nigel Greening thinks the 2019 vintage might be the best ever at Felton Road, through a combination of weather conditions, good decisions made in the vineyard and winery, and the increasing vine age of their holdings. The Bannockburn is certainly a good start, with a mid-ruby colour and deep cherry fruit on the nose. There are hints of spice - both from wood and stems - that add sweet and savoury notes too. The palate is fleshy with summer pudding fruit, accented with nutmeg and a little dark cherry. The acid is bright and freshens the palate with a note of blood orange adding an extra dimension. Succulent and juicy but harmonious through to a long finish.
