Outstanding
A subtle application of wood frames the spicy red and dark berry fruit that is liberally laced by notes of earth and game. I very much like the intensity and focused power of the concentrated medium weight flavors that display moderate rusticity and a touch of austerity on the impressively complex and persistent finale. Patience required. Drink: 2024+
The deepest crimson of these samples, yet still very light crimson. Meaty, more concentrated nose than the other Gouges 2014s tasted in early 2016. Some real concentration of fruit and discernible spice, bitter cherries and relatively firm tannin. Relatively backward with sandy tannins and real persistence. But still the unforced, delicate ’new’ Gouges style. 2022 - 2030
