This represents the most shriveled and botrytis-affected berries separated out in the cellar from the corresponding B.A. Scents of salted caramel, honey and quince preserves, offset by lemon and grapefruit rinds, set the themes for an impressively concentrated, bittersweet, enormously rich, caressingly-creamy midpalate. An aura of freshly baked bread reflects in part the wine’s botrytis component, but there is none of the outright fungal character found in the corresponding B.A. Like that sibling, this T.B.A. is rather dominated by its sheer sweetness, but the zesty citric elements offer some welcome tangy and piquant counterpoint in the extraordinarily long-lasting finish.
