An overtly toasty character fights somewhat with the liqueur-like aromas of red and dark currant liqueur that flash notes of freshly turned earth, spice, smoked meat and plenty of forest floor nuances. This is markedly bigger and more powerful than the Charmes with more mid-palate concentration as well as the copious amounts of dry extract imparts a sappy texture as well as buffers the very firm tannic spine on the explosively long and beautifully well-balanced finale. This is an imposingly serious wine and expressly made to age so keep that in mind should you choose to buy it as this won't be a good candidate to drink young.
A pretty if distinctly ripe nose features a layered assortment of mineral reduction, acacia blossom, lemon rind and freshly sliced apple. The succulent, round, indeed even luscious flavors exhibit somewhat less minerality than usual before culminating in a noticeably bitter finish. This may harmonize but it's awkward today.
