The 2014 La Tour Blanche has a fragrant bouquet that gently unfolds to offer lovely white peach, honeysuckle and jasmine aromas, later just a hint of grilled walnuts. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite tensile and mineral-driven, fresh and poised with a lightly spiced, lemongrass tinged finish. This is a beautifully made La Tour Blanche that will give two or three decades of drinking pleasure. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting. 2020 - 2045
The nose is a little bit bready with dried-apple character, and there’s only a hint of the exotic-fruit botryis character. The wine is full and rich on the palate, but there’s a slight sharpness to the finish that pulls the brakes on.
A rich and round wine with medium sweetness yet full-bodied, spicy and fruity. Shows potential.
The 2014 La Tour Blanche has turned out beautifully. Orchard fruit, white flowers and mint are some of the signatures. Delicate, understated and lifted in style, this Sauternes offers considerable near- and medium-term appeal. The 2014 is not especially deep or complex, but it is nicely balanced and delicious.
Subtle and luscious without any excess of sweetness. Bravo! Layers and real interest. Not fat - more sinew than fat. Long and with the richness well balanced by freshness.
This streams through with glistening dried yellow apple, star fruit, white peach and mango flavors, backed by heather, honeysuckle and mirabelle plum notes. Rich for sure, but this wins on brightness, range and purity. Best from 2020 through 2035. 1,665 cases made.
Sweet and ripe on the nose the palate has richness candied peel fleshy apricots. The mid palate is fresher lighter towards the back there is richness ripe apricot and yellow peach yet it finishes with tangerine freshness. 2025-36
A rich, serious, profondly oaked Sauternes that combines apricot, peach and honeycomb sweetness, vanilla and cinnamon spice, plenty of oak and remarkable palate freshness, zip and length. Nuanced, elegant winemaking of a high order.
