Although I left the wine in the glass for over five minutes – the nose still comes across just a little over-ripe and lacking some delineation. Black cherries, raspberry and a touch of tangerine. The palate is better, some nice grippy tannins, off-dry, very good delineation and focus, the finish adorned with crisp blackberry, cedar and a touch of tobacco. Lovely Cabernet here. Fine. Tasted April 2008
Attractive blackberry and toasted oak, with plenty of tar and licorice on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, with good fruit and ripe tannins, but slightly hollow in the center palate. Second wine of Mouton. Seems better than the 2006
Firm purplish crimson. Good attack. Quite a powerful nose. Very round and supple with just a little inkiness underneath. Lots there – more than on Les Carruades, for example!
Although the tannins are firm they feel ripe allowing the sweetness of the fruit to show. The layers of flavour from the mix of fruits give an attractive complexity. The sweet power towards the finish is backed by some herbal spice adding to the elegance.
Dark red, seductive and spicy, quite exotic and supple fruit, certainly a mini-Mouton, just a little hollow behind the seductive fruit. Drink 2011-17. 4 stars.
