Maurizio Anselma’s family bought plots within some of the region’s best vineyards during the 1970s. Somewhat of an enigma, the wines are rarely submitted to critics for tasting but they are some of the very best wines we have tasted from the region. Classic in structure, they and need a lot of time but there is a Musigny-esque perfume and elegance that runs through the range. Highly recommended.
Monforte d'Alba. Cask sample. Pale ruby. Earthy minerally notes hovering over ripe dark-cherry fruit with a suggestion of dried fruit and cinnamon bark. Supple and sleek fruit with the powdery tannins kicking in on the finish, but the fruit comes out on top. Long and succulent and with tannic bite.
