Maurizio Anselma’s family bought plots within some of the region’s best vineyards during the 1970s. Somewhat of an enigma, the wines are rarely submitted to critics for tasting but they are some of the very best wines we have tasted from the region. Classic in structure, they need a lot of time but there is a Musigny-esque perfume and elegance that runs through the range. Highly recommended.
Monforte d'Alba. Cask sample. Brooding richness of cherry fruit on the nose. Lots of exotically spiced cherry fruit with a dollop of powdery tannins that turn a little dry. But the persistence of fruit aroma on the finish is impressive.
