Gevrey Chambertin Aux Etelois, Domaine Tawse 2019

Tasting Notes

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Etelois was completely destemmed and has a reserved bouquet, quite earthy in style at first, featuring brambly red berry fruit. It becomes spicier with aeration, revealing hints of cumin and bay leaf. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, smooth and beautifully balanced, the oak seamlessly integrated. It lingers nicely on the finish, completing a very composed and seductive Aux Etelois. (Drink between 2024-2042)

The vineyard had to be replanted after the big freeze of January 1985. Destemmed with 25% new wood. Fine mid crimson to purple. This has a most beautiful bouquet, a very ripe style at 14%. The flavour profile is of super-ripe cherries, but it holds up well on the palate and through to a long finish.
