The Golden Slopes in question face east at 300 metres on clay and decomposed granite soils and retain water better than many vineyards in the Swartland. Concrete fermented and aged, this has fennel and chamomile aromas, lots of richness and concentration and flavours of stone fruit, yellow apple and citrus peel. Intense stuff. Drink: 2024-2029.
A gorgeously wild and textural chenin showing complex aromas of acacia, golden apples, lemon rind, hints of white pepper and nutmeg. Medium- to full-bodied, expansive and well-structured, with a dry honey character and fantastic freshness, too. Single vineyard planted in 1968. Drink or hold.
