The 2018 Volnay Village has a surprisingly deep and broody bouquet compared to the Auxey Village. Dark berry fruit mixed with iodine and light violet aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly grainy tannins, more savory in style, yet I find more freshness and vitality in the Auxey this year. Drinking Window: 2022 - 2030
Still in barrel. The wine has a rich deep purple colour with a beautiful succulent fruit on the nose. The fruit on the palate is absolutely mouth-filling, though there are some stern tannins behind. This needs more elevage but is extremely promising.
