Sout van die Aarde Palomino, A.A. Badenhorst 2022

Tasting Notes

Sourced from the same vineyard as Eben Sadie's Skerpioen white, this is a varietal Palomino rather than a blend with Chenin Blanc. Whole bunch pressed before ageing in older 500-litre barrels, this is a savoury, earthy, salty number with sourdough bread and umami flavours, a nip of skin tannins and a sea breezy finish. Drink: 2024-2029.

A waxy and creamy white with layers upon layers of beeswax, honeycomb, chamomile, grapefruit rind and apricot stones. Medium-bodied with lovely texture and tasty salty and honey undertones. Drink or hold.
