Saint Joseph Babylone, Domaine Julien Cecillon 2021

Tasting Notes

mild red colour; the nose has reserves, shows a spiced blackberry, leafy notes in line with the cool, wet vintage, dust and herbs present. The palate has a cool, peppery opening, holds crisp fruit, live tannins, plays the fresh card well, gathers a small increase in gras along the second half. It’s in place to amplify; the fruit has a linear tone, with fibre in the texture, is a Nordic style of wine. It will be of definite interest at the age of four to five years’, decanted. From late 2024. Bottled March 2023. “It needs a year in bottle,” J Cécillon. 2028-29 May 2023 ***(*) 3.5 stars
